"Mystique"
What is the Masonic "Mystique?" What is it about Masonry that mystifies so many people? Our meetings, time and place, are well chronicled. Much of our ritual has been published in "exposes" and shown on television, making Masonry, in effect, an open society, which it is. Our Lodges are open to all who meet our simple criteria and our criteria only specifies that we be moral and generous brothers.
So, why then are there so many questions and why do we remain a mystery to so many people. I ask this question rhetorically as there are no apparent answers.
It seems that a group of men meeting in friendship, regardless of their status in the community or in the halls of justice or finance, seems to baffle some people and they ask, how can this be? There must be something more. There is no "something more." This is what Masonry is all about. There are no great secret that have not been made public to all. We meet in friendship and brotherly love and know that whenever we attend a Lodge, no matter where or when, we are all meeting as brothers on common ground. That is the great secret of Masonry.
Fraternally,
R.W. Robert James Rawding
